Perfusion Defined

The movement of blood throughout a tissue. If the body's tissues are not well perfused with blood they will not function properly or will die. If the lungs are not properly perfused, proper gas exchange cannot take place; the body will retain carbon dioxide and be unable to renew its stores of oxygen.
